Charnwood’s curriculum is relationships‑led, fully inclusive, and rooted in children’s wellbeing, curiosity, and sense of belonging. Inspired by Te Whāriki, it weaves together emotional security, communication, exploration, and real‑world experiences to create a rich, responsive learning journey for every child.
We build on children’s interests, strengths, and starting points, offering carefully sequenced opportunities across all Early Years Foundation Stage areas while ensuring SEND children are fully supported through therapy‑informed practice and Total Communication.
Our curriculum nurtures confident, resilient learners who feel safe, valued, and ready for their next steps in life and learning.
Outdoor Provision
At Charnwood we are passionate about spending time outdoors in all weathers. When children experience sunshine, rain, wind, and even cold, they learn to adapt, problem‑solve, and stay curious in changing conditions.
Time in the outdoors strengthens physical health, supports emotional wellbeing, and offers rich sensory experiences that simply can’t be replicated indoors. It also nurtures independence as children learn to dress appropriately, assess risks, and explore their environment with growing confidence.
Waterproofs are provided, but if your child has their own that they prefer to wear then they are welcome to bring them.
How can you support your child’s learning and development?
At Charnwood, we use an app which is a secure, online learning journal designed to record photos, observations, and comments about your child’s experiences and development both at nursery and at home. It is closely linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and helps build a special record of your child’s achievements.
